Profile of Priscilla
Priscilla Jane Rigby née Williams was born to Joseph Williams and Sarah Forbes in the breath-taking settlement of Blue Hills on March 7, 1915. She was a child of promise from birth and displayed a unique personality. She was a special gift from God.
Like her peers, she attended the All-Age School in Blue Hills where she excelled academically in all areas of her studies through the tutorship of the late Aaron Gardiner of Bottle Creek.
Priscilla accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour at a very early age. Her favourite passage of Scripture was Psalm 23: “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” During the years she lived in the Blue Hills District, she was a member of the Methodist Church.
The year 1939 was a most significant year in the life of Priscilla. On November 22, she married the handsome young gentleman from one of Five Cays most noble families, Hilton Rigby. To that union was born eight children – four sons and four daughters. Priscilla was an ambitious young lady, she too made her mark in life. A devoted wife and mother; a pillar of strength in the Five Cays Community. Priscilla was of a quiet nature but found time to serve in her community through her fine examples. She was a behind the scenes person who helped her husband Hilton to carry out his civic duties as District Constable for many years and as Chief Deacon of the Paradise Baptist Church, where she was always receiving Ministers of the church into her home and caring for them as well. Her doors were always open to anyone, whether it was for a word of encouragement or just old-time acquaintances.
Known to her children and grandchildren as “Ma”, to her nieces and nephews as “Godie” or “Iya”, and to her in-laws as “Aunt Priscilla”, she was a “Jewel of Love”. Her sound principles and virtues as a mother proved to show the positive influence her life had on her family through the achievements of her children and the true examples of her teaching.
Priscilla served the Paradise Baptist Church as a Class Leader and as Secretary for many years. She was also very supportive of the Provo Baptist Association and the Turks and Caicos Baptist Union – for she knew what was important in life- “Service to God and her Fellowmen”. She served unselfishly.

Priscilla’s guiding principleMy Times Are In Thy Hand
In 1993 Priscilla suffered a stroke and became incapacitated, eventually being confined to her bed. During her illness her children faced many times with the most difficult decision anyone would ever be faced with about someone so dear. But the precious memories of her soared through our minds and the warmth, and strength united by all the wonderful things she did, demands our admiration and affection. During those long months of her illness she never lost hope, her only desire was to find solace in the presence of the Lord, this desire is expressed in the words of the Hymn: “My Times Are In Thy Hand”.
My times are in Thy hand;
My God, I wish them there;
My life, my friends, my soul I leave
Entirely to Thy care
My times are in Thy hand;
Whatever they may be;
Pleasing or painful, dark or bright,
As best may seem to Thee.
My times are in Thy hand;
Why should I doubt or fear?
My Father’s hand will never cause
His child a needless tear.
My times are in Thy hand,
Jesus, the crucified!
Those hands my cruel sins had pierced
Are now my guard and guide.
My times are in Thy hand,
Jesus, my advocate:
Nor shall Thine hand be stretched in vain,
For me to supplicate.
My times are in Thy hand,
I’ll always trust in Thee;
And, after death, at Thy right hand
I shall forever be.
Priscilla was happy to wait, but ready to go; her desire to be with the Lord was fulfilled at 8:15 am, Thursday, May 4th, 1995 at the age of 80 years.
